Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist

Why Mayo Clinic Antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist position in an interdisciplinary and progressive regional practice with clinical, education, and research/quality improvement responsibilities. Position description The antimicrobial stewardship (AS) pharmacist will be responsible for participating in clinical, project management, training, and quality improvement activities as endorsed by the Mayo Clinic Enterprise Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and national guidelines (Joint Commission, CDC, CMS, etc.). The pharmacist will practice clinically in a strong interdisciplinary environment alongside a network of AS pharmacists, providers, and administrators. Infectious disease therapy will be optimized through the use of advanced stewardship tools within the electronic health record, patient care rounds, consults, and retrospective and prospective review of medication therapies. In addition, the pharmacist will be responsible for both maintenance and development of best practices, including antimicrobial use optimization, monitoring of infection rates, documentation of AS interventions and clinical outcomes, antibiotic review, and cost savings initiatives. Development of continuing education for providers, pharmacists, and allied health staff will be required based on identified organizational needs and requests. Support for clinical and quality research is available. It is preferred the candidate has/will have completed accredited infectious diseases residency training or has equivalent experience in this specialty practice. Use time effectively and actively participate in productivity of department. Identify and meet needs of customers. Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts. Respect the confidentiality of all information, including information regarding patients, staff members or MCHS-RW business issues, and share information only with those who need to know. Additional qualifications Preferred Education: Pharm D Preferred Experience: Previous hospital pharmacy experience. Previous experience working as an antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist including training though a residency. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to manage and exercise sound independent judgment, good problem solving skills, knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ability to communicate effectively. Understand and follow safety procedures to ensure medication safety. Demonstrate functional knowledge of emergency plans and utilize proper infection control techniques. Use time effectively and actively participate in productivity of department. Identify and meet needs of customers. Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts. Respect the confidentiality of all information, including information regarding patients, staff members or MCHS-RW business issues, and share information only with those who need to know. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance. May be required to work multiple shifts, weekends, overtime and possible multiple sites. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
